Whatever an individual is thinking, it will eventually be
revealed. We have been presented information on “The tongue” in several writings
which I have posted in previous days. Today, we will discuss the harmful things
spoken words can cause or contribute to disastrous outcomes to others. They can
destroy relationships or cause stress, and in some situations cause depression
and suicide; and destroy a person’s character.
Hear what the writer of the book of “James” says:
"But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts,
glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly,
sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and
every evil work."
All the excuses such individuals might try to make to
present themselves as “Just teasing” or
didn’t mean to hurt anyone by the things they said or did, that caused harm, is
inexcusable. The truth is, such behavior is designed to have fun at the
suffering of another person’s pain. It is another form of bullying. This kind
of behavior is deemed evil for anyone to do.

Never Tell Anyone Something You don’t Want Repeated
If you confide in someone and ask them not to tell anyone
what you told them, you have made a big mistake. Never tell anyone anything
that you don’t want repeated. Otherwise, you would be better off telling them
to publish it. The buddy system is at work here:
The person you gave the information to in confidence, repeated it to someone who they told not to tell and so traveled your information
to friends, telling friends not to tell. Now, lots of people know what you
didn’t want them to know.
Subject: The tongue
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great
things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity:
so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and
setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3: 5, 6 (K.J.V)
Subject: The Tongue (cont.)
For every kind of beasts, and of birds and of serpents, and
of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full
of deadly poison.
Therewith bless we
God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the
similitude of God.
James 3:7-10 (K.J.V)
Subject: The
Tongue (cont.)
Out of the
same mouth proceedeth blessings and cursing. My brethren, these things ought
not so to be.
Doth a
fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Can the fig
tree, my brethren, bear olive berries?
either a
vine, figs? So can no fountain both
yield salt water and fresh.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?
let him show out of good conversation his works with
meekness of wisdom.
James 3:11-13 (K.J.V)
