How to Determine a True Friend

Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies.  ~ Aristotle
FinestQuotes.com

Make no friend with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: lest thou learn his ways, and get snare to their soul.  Proverbs 22:24, 25 (K.J.V.)

        Snare:
(1)    something by which one is entangled, involved in difficulties, or impeded (2) : something deceptively attractive.

King Solomon explains very clearly the characteristics of true friendship by stating, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly; and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24

A true friend is not someone who is going to leave you when you are in desperate need.  They will always be with you when family members aren’t there for you. They are always ready to listen, when you need to express your innermost feelings.  You can depend on them to keep your personal information secured. They will protect you.  A true friend loves unconditionally. They never expect anything in return for the things they do  A true friend is very rare. When one is found, they are held close within our soul, because they and we are one.  Their love is not romantic, they aren't necessarily of the same gender, and aren’t always of the same ethnicity.  A true friend is sometime of different ages. There is a respect for each other that can never be blemished. And an everlasting bond that is never broken.

Music & Sound

by Ellen J. Barrier
Author/Musician/Recording Artist/Songwriter
We are surrounded by the sound of music. When we are out side in our yards, we hear the sound of birds chirping musical notes, squirrels on an electrical wire, running back and forth, making their merry sounds. We hear the sound of music being listened to, by drivers, in our communities and neighborhoods.

Music brings to listeners something that is wonderful and special. It has a way of relaxing or bringing excitement. There are many different kinds of styles of music. We each can choose our own preference: Contemporary, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Pop, Inspiration, Spiritual, Soft,  Latin, and others.

I love the sound of musical instruments such as; guitar, drums, clarinet, flute, organ, piano, saxophone, and some others. The keyboard is a ‘must have’ musical instrument, because of the special sound effects it has.

Music and sound have been in the world, from the beginning of its existence.  Beginning with hands clapping, and feet stumping, using what ever item or method, to make sound with rhythm- automatically brings a response of excitement, giving the desire to move with the rhythm of the beat.
We dance, use music in our exercise routines, and to workout.

On rainy days or nights, relaxing and reading a good book, while listening to favorite music and songs, are unforgettable.

“Music is like medicine.  It can bring relief to the aches and stressful situations that life brings. We live in a world of music. There is sound and rhythm everywhere we go!”

Musical Instruments & Technology

I enjoy listening to the sounds of many different musical instruments. I am a big fan of Jazz music. My family and I enjoy going to concerts. Many of my family members as well as myself, are into music. We play a variety of musical instruments. I'm going to talk about the instrument I play:

I play the keyboard.  It is a Yamaha Porta Tone. The things I appreciate about the keyboard is that - it allows the musician to play a variety of instruments: Piano, organ, drums, guitar and horns - along with a variety of sound effects. I could go on. But, I'll talk about my keyboard. If you play a musical instrument of any kind, I'm sure you deeply appreciate it. And the time you spend alone with your instrument. The musicians and their instruments become one.

Performance Assistance Technology

This feature is a easy way  to play piano and organ, on your keyboard. It is especially good for new players. It allows the student to play along with songs. The technology reads the chord data from the song, and assigns the appropriate notes to the keyboard, for the chords of the song that's being played. Different notes and chords are produced, even if the student plays the same note repeatedly. This is because, the chords of a song, changes constantly.

Performance assistance technology, can only be used with songs, that include chord data. The student can download songs from the Internet, if they are available - and use them with this technology, only if the required chord data is included. The student can also, change the song tempo. If the tempo of a song is too fast or too slow, set the tempo by touching the TEMPO/TAP button.

The Power of Love
Set me as a seal upon thine heart
As a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death;
Jealousy is cruel as the grave; the coals thereof are coals of fire
which hath a most vehement flame.
Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it:
If a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would
utterly be condemned.
__King Solomon

I Need Time
Not now, not now,  not now, I say.
I’ll serve you Lord, just not today.
You see, I do not need you now. My life’s complete.
So tell me how, I’m to serve you and still have time to hang loose
with these dawgs of mine?
But in a little while I’ll come. Just not now, Lord.
I’m with my chums. See they don’t know a thing about you.
So give me time - just one more day.  And  I’ll  try to come your way.
But understand, I may change my mind.
Cuz these friends of mine, are trying to find a way to make their lives right.
And I, Well I just can’t talk about the light.
They’ll think I’m weird. They will think I’m strange, if I tell them about
your name. They’ll laff at me. I’ll be a joke, if I tell them about the yoke
that you bore just for me. I can’t yet Lord. I need to be free. I’ll fit my
future in your plan. Just wait for me Lord - you understand.

Alone
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
