Music Can Be Described in Several Ways

“Music is like medicine. It can bring relief to the aches and stressful situations that life brings. We live in a world of music. There is sound and rhythm everywhere we go!”

"Music is the greatest entertainment; and the only language everyone understand."
“Music is the Universal Language that allows all people to communicate with each other.”
― Ellen J. Barrier

“Music is exciting and easy to enjoy, the rhythm and voice.
It does not need interpretation. That is why it is called the Universal Language.”
_ Ellen J. Barrier

There are many genres of music. And there cannot be one way to describe it.

ROAR!

My name is ROAR, and I came to perform on this show.
Listen my friends; there is something about me you ought to know;
I like music, I like to dance, I like to party with people I know.
I am going to let out a roar!
It will be the sound of music that will get you out
on the floor; dancing, and having fun; you know how we roar!
Don’t run for the door, before I roar. I am going to steal this show.

The Power of the voice

This roar, is released with authority, boldness, and confidence. Courage and strength, is felt in the power of the sound.
Release your roar, and the sound of your voice, will carry an echo that will be heard by a greater number of ears than you could ever possibly imagine. Within such a roar, the spirit of perseverance to face challenges without fear, is in the heart .
I encourage you to use your talent, to pursue your dreams.

The Power of Music over the Mind

“Music is a safe kind of high.” __Jimi Hendrix

There is a power in music that can connect with the listener, in a way that no other source can. Music has power over the mind.

Artists are able to stir emotions with their music, through the state of mood feelings:  There are many genres of music to choose from. Each piece of art has its own mood.  In the quote below from the bible, this artist mood is sad. In the next quote, the effect of the artist, with this listener, is that high mood, Mr. Hendrix was referring to.  Music is like a medicine. We are addicted to music, because we need it. It can bring relief to the aches and stressful situations that life brings. We live in a world of music. There is sound and rhythm everywhere we go!

The Sad Mood:
“My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.” Job 30:31

The High Mood:
“When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest. __Henry David Thoreau

Music & Sound

by Ellen J. Barrier
Author/Musician/Recording Artist/Songwriter
We are surrounded by the sound of music. When we are out side in our yards, we hear the sound of birds chirping musical notes, squirrels on an electrical wire, running back and forth, making their merry sounds. We hear the sound of music being listened to, by drivers, in our communities and neighborhoods.

Music brings to listeners something that is wonderful and special. It has a way of relaxing or bringing excitement. There are many different kinds of styles of music. We each can choose our own preference: Contemporary, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Gospel, Pop, Inspiration, Spiritual, Soft,  Latin, and others.

I love the sound of musical instruments such as; guitar, drums, clarinet, flute, organ, piano, saxophone, and some others. The keyboard is a ‘must have’ musical instrument, because of the special sound effects it has.

Music and sound have been in the world, from the beginning of its existence.  Beginning with hands clapping, and feet stumping, using what ever item or method, to make sound with rhythm- automatically brings a response of excitement, giving the desire to move with the rhythm of the beat.
We dance, use music in our exercise routines, and to workout.

On rainy days or nights, relaxing and reading a good book, while listening to favorite music and songs, are unforgettable.

Musical Instruments & Technology

Ellen J. Barrier

Music Store

I enjoy listening to the sounds of many different musical instruments. I am a big fan of Jazz music. My family and I enjoy going to concerts. Many of my family members as well as myself, are into music. We play a variety of musical instruments. I'm going to talk about the instrument I play:

I play the keyboard.  It is a Yamaha Porta Tone. The things I appreciate about the keyboard is that - it allows the musician to play a variety of instruments: Piano, organ, drums, guitar and horns - along with a variety of sound effects. I could go on. But, I'll talk about my keyboard. If you play a musical instrument of any kind, I'm sure you deeply appreciate it. And the time you spend alone with your instrument. The musicians and their instruments become one.

Performance Assistance Technology

This feature is a easy way  to play piano and organ, on your keyboard. It is especially good for new players. It allows the student to play along with songs. The technology reads the chord data from the song, and assigns the appropriate notes to the keyboard, for the chords of the song that's being played. Different notes and chords are produced, even if the student plays the same note repeatedly. This is because, the chords of a song, changes constantly.

Performance assistance technology, can only be used with songs, that include chord data. The student can download songs from the Internet, if they are available - and use them with this technology, only if the required chord data is included. The student can also, change the song tempo. If the tempo of a song is too fast or too slow, set the tempo by touching the TEMPO/TAP button.

Musical Instruments: Making Sound! Entertainment! & Praise!

Ellen J. Barrier

O  Give Thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.
Oh that men would praise the Lord, for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works
with rejoicing.

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof; They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end. Then they cry unto the Lord, in their trouble, and he bringeth them out
of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground:
A fruitful land into barrenness for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into water springs.  And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation; And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease. Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way. Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.

The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even thay shall understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.

Paslms 107: verse 1; 21-43
