Prayer in Times of Distress

“When all hope is gone and your back is against the wall, ‘Pray.’
Ask God to guide you and he will take good care of you.”

― Ellen J. Barrier

And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and prayed unto him: and he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. 11 Chronicles 33:12, 13

Story:

Manasseh was the ruler of Jerusalem for fifty-five years. During his range he was described as one who caused the people to commit acts that were displeasing to God. Therefore, he and those who followed his leadership had been warned to correct their errors. And because of his disobedience, it was said “Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him into Babylon.” 11 Chronicles 33:11

My Thoughts:

In times of afflictions, whether, they are health related, or a condition whereby one feels they are imprisoned, they seek help.  Manasseh, did as many others do, he turned to the God who his ancestors trusted for help. He received help from God, and became a better leader. He corrected many of his wrongdoings. And because of the changes he made in his leadership, the people made some positive changes as well. When leadership is strengthened and governed with righteous behavior, the people are better for it.

Dancing in the Rain During a Storm

The individuals who look for ways to avoid focusing on the storm, and the destruction it left behind, but rather on a greater future, can dance in the rain, during the storm.

Such individuals have learned to endure and persevere through the storms of hardships. They are those who possess happiness.

"Happiness is when the body, mind, and soul experience a sense of complete wholeness."
Happiness is never found in materialistic things; it exists in things that cannot be physically possessed. Therefore, happiness is priceless. It can never be purchased.

The Storms of Life

During the hardships of life that attacks unexpectedly, upon all human beings; There are those who believe in a spiritual force that is higher, who has all power and authority over every situation; in his wisdom, they place their trust.

Therefore, they are much stronger than the hardships they encounters. This allows them to search for new ideas, and to find new ways to improve their life. They don’t stop and wait for life to get better; they persevere in spite of the difficulties they face.

They keep working despite the hardships; to find ways to make their life better, during the attacks they encountered. They set a goal before them for each attack they encountered.  Due to the way they chose to deal with the hardships they encounters, their goals are victorious ones.

*Because they never stop to focus on the negative, but rather the positive, they are able to enjoy life.

Regardless of the attack, which may be upon one’s health, finances, personal life, or whatever the hardship maybe, that is as challenging as any storm that leaves destruction within its path, the individual who look for ways to avoid focusing on the storm, and the destruction it left behind, but rather the future, can dance in the rain, during a storm.

Heaven’s Grocery Store

Ellen J. Barrier

I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.
One day I saw a sign that read HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE.
As I got a little closer, the door open wide, and when I came to myself, I was standing inside.
I saw a host of ANGELS; they were standing everywhere. And one ANGEL said, “MY CHILD SHOP WITH CARE.”  Everything a CHRISTIAN needed was in that grocery store.  And all you couldn’t carry, you could come back the next day for more.
First, I got some PATIENCE.  LOVE was in the same row.  Further down was UNDERSTANDING. You need that everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of WISDOM, a bag or two of FAITH. I just couldn’t miss the HOLY GHOST for it was all over the place.
I stopped to get some STRENGTH and COURAGE to help me run the race. By then, my basket was getting full, but I remembered I need some GRACE.
I didn’t forget SALVATION. For SALVATION that was free.
So, I tried to get enough of that save you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill. For I thought I had everything to do MY MASTER’s WILL. As I went up the aisle, I saw PRAYER and just had to put that in.  For I knew when I stepped outside, I would run right into sin.
PEACE and JOY were PLENTIFUL.  They were on the last shelf. SONG and PRAISES were hanging near so I just helped myself.
Then, I said now how much do I owe? HE just smiled and said, JUST TAKE THEM EVERYWHERE YOU GO. How much do I really owe? HE smiled and said, MY CHILD, JESUS PAID YOUR BILL A LONG TIME AGO." TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOR EVERYTHING IN 2012. LET THERE BE LIGHT DAILY AND EMBRACE GOD'S GRACE OVER YOUR LIFE LIKE NEVER BEFORE!"

Hope

Psalm 121

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepth thee will not
slumber.

Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth,
and even for evermore.

When we visit the hills and look up into the sky, we feel a sense of peace and hope. The universe inspires faith to believe there is a creator of all life in heaven and upon earth. There is a special feeling that we get when we get out into the atmosphere such as spending time at the parks, picnics, and becoming one with nature. Having a garden and watching plants grow is rewarding in several ways. The exercise and health for our bodies are all positive things we get from gardening.

There are so many wonderful things we receive from earth, the beauty is breath taking and awesome to watch, day or night. And they are uplifting and inspirational, therefore, they gives us hope to pray to God in our time of needs.

How to Determine a True Friend

Friendship is a single soul dwelling in two bodies.  ~ Aristotle
FinestQuotes.com

Make no friend with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: lest thou learn his ways, and get snare to their soul.  Proverbs 22:24, 25 (K.J.V.)

        Snare:
(1)    something by which one is entangled, involved in difficulties, or impeded (2) : something deceptively attractive.
Definition Source: Wikipedia encyclopedia

King Solomon explains very clearly the characteristics of true friendship by stating, “A man that hath friends must show himself friendly; and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”
Proverbs 18:24

A true friend is not someone who is going to leave you when you are in desperate need.  They will always be with you when family members aren’t there for you. They are always ready to listen, when you need to express your innermost feelings.  You can depend on them to keep your personal information secured. They will protect you.  A true friend loves unconditionally. They never expect anything in return for the things they do  A true friend is very rare. When one is found, they are held close within our soul, because they and we are one.  Their love is not romantic, they aren't necessarily of the same gender, and aren’t always of the same ethnicity.  A true friend is sometime of different ages. There is a respect for each other that can never be blemished. And an everlasting bond that is never broken.

Condemned for Showing the World’s Shame

Ellen J. Barrier

“The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame.”

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.
Titus 2:11

My Thoughts:

The same people who condemn books that show the world its own shame, also, condemn lyrics, movies, music, and songs, for showing the world its own shame.

The Bible contains many books that show the world its own shame.  But when we articulate those things, and reveal them in books, lyrics, movies, music, and songs,  the Holier than Thou crowd, comes after us, condemning and  sitting in the seat of judgment, claiming their religious rights are being infringed upon.  Some individuals believe they are doing God’s work, by going after the authors, artists, and performers work,  and labeling it “immoral” trying to hinder the progress.

Showing the world its own shame through books, lyrics, movies, music, and songs are methods of teachings that can be for the good of the world. People are given the opportunity to make some changes in their lives for the good that will make the world less shameful. Through the technology of today, we are able to make biblical teachings more effective, when we view things from an educational standpoint of view, rather than viewing them by using our personal religious beliefs, that causes arguments and disagreements.

Music is the universal language of mankind.  ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (Outre-Mer)

Books, Lyrics, Movies, Music and Songs are The Universal Language of Mankind.

Hell: The Bottomless Pit
I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to Hell with them that descend into the pit:
They also went down into Hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen. Ezekiel 31:16, 17 (K.J.V.)

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these;  Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry,
witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. They which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-22 (K.J.V)
